REMINDER: The opening reception for the first trio of exhibitions in the new Visual Arts Gallery in Chelsea is Tuesday, March 16, 6 – 8pm. All three shows will be on view through March 27. The gallery is located at 601 West 26th Street, Suite 1502 (11th Avenue).

ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN: Photographer, independent filmmaker, and writer Eugene Richards will present his work at SVA on Thursday, March 18, 6:30pm in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor. His work has addressed issues such as abuse, death, the disabled, the disadvantaged, disease, drug addiction, medicine, and poverty has been published in numerous publications. Richards has been named one of photography’s 20 most important photographers by Photo District News and the recipient of the medium’s highest honors. Admission is $10, free to Camera Club of New York members and SVA students, faculty, and staff. Photo ID required for entry. Proceeds from this event will benefit charities concerned with the plight of the mentally disabled.
