Jessie Tong (MFA 2003 Fine Arts) will have her first solo show, Not Your Typical Animal, at the Thomas Werner Gallery this month. Tong will present a series of animal illustrations at the gallery, 526 West 26th Street, #712, from November 14 through December 20. Tong’s animal illustrations conjure a playful world where sheep go to therapy and knit sweaters, dogs play video games, goats stand on each others’ backs to talk to the birds and birds fly out of the mouths of lions. There will be a reception November 14, from 6 – 8pm.

Robert Kohr (BFA 2003 Animation) has been busy since graduation. In the last six months, Kohr has managed to create two animated short films, II and I Am I. The Black Bear Film Festival, held in Milford, Pennsylvania, recently presented I Am I, which he created with a group of SVA alumni. Kohr has also just finished work on a web site for a jazz compilation CD and book called Nicki the Jazz Cat. To add to the list of projects, Kohr is now also uploading sketches from his day-to-day work on his web site.
