Toon Talk

September 5, 2003

Leading animation professionals will visit SVA on September 10 at 6:30pm for Toon Boom or Toon Bust, a panel and Q&A on the animation industry, a book signing and a reception. Panelists include Howard Beckerman (SVA Animation faculty) and author of Animation: The Whole Story; John Dilworth (BFA 1985 Media Studies), founder of Stretch Films and creator of Courage, the Cowardly Dog; Yvette Kaplan (BFA 1976 Media Studies), head of story for Ice Age; Linda Simensky, senior vice president of original animation at Cartoon Network; and David Levy, director of Blues Clues and president, ASIFA East. Toon Boom or Toon Bust was inspired by the new book, Makin’ Toons: Inside the Most Popular Animated TV Shows & Movies, by author Allan Neuwirth, who will moderate the event. Neuwirth’s book provides a much-heralded tribute to animation that features 15 prolific years in animation through first-hand accounts with its leading players. Neuwirth will sign his book at the event.
