Funny Lady

July 18, 2003

The Society of Illustrators recently unveiled the latest addition to its permanent collection, an original gouache-on-board portrait of Barbra Streisand, painted by beloved former faculty member Jack Potter. The illustration was originally published in a 1966 issue of Ladies Home Journal, and ‘Babs’ actually posed in person for the piece. Potter taught drawing at SVA for over 40 years. He was posthumously inducted into the Society’s Hall of Fame in 2003 and the painting of Streisand now holds a spot on their Members Gallery wall.
