Stand-Up Comics

April 25, 2003

Two SVA illustration alumni have been making news in the world of comics.

Tomer Hanuka (BFA 2000 Illustration) has provided the cover, a full comics page and additional illustrations for this Sunday’s (April 27) New York Times Magazine. He also was just nominated in the “Best Short Story” category of the 2003 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. His short story, Telekinetic, appears in the alternative comic Bipolar #3. The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comic industry, and the winners will be announced this July at Comic-Con: International in San Diego.

Work by Nathan Fox (MFA 2002 Illustration As Visual Essay) may be seen in DC Comics’ current issue of Harley Quinn, #31. The 32-page issue features Harley in a life and death battle with Poison Ivy.
