Monumentally Preserved

April 17, 2003

Photographer and SVA faculty member James Rudnick has been shooting New York City landmarks since moving to Brooklyn in the 1970s. His documentation of the restoration of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Grand Central Station and the New York Public Library lead to the recently published book Gotham Restored. The book consists of black-and-white and color photographs which follow the progress of these landmark institutions from a state of decay to their gleaming, post-restoration glory. Rudnick will be showing slides from his book as well as discussing his work at the SVA Amphitheater, Tuesday, April 22 starting at 7pm.
