Designed to Win

The SVA community would like to congratulate Lovejoy Duryea, chair of the Interior Design Department, on earning a Gold Medal Award from the National Arts Club. An award dinner and presentation for Ms. Duryea will take place at the club on March 26. As founder and chair of the Interior Design Department at SVA, Ms. Duryea has helped redefine how interior design is perceived within the overall design community. She is also the president of Dorset Design Inc. and an award-winning designer with more than 30 years experience in the industry. Ms. Duryea joins an impressive list of 2003 Gold Medal honorees, including Dave Brubeck (music), Gordon Getty (patronage), Tom Stoppard (literature), and Jamie Wyeth (art). The National Arts Club has been honoring cultural luminaries for outstanding achievements in the arts since 1957.

Also at the National Arts Club, there will be an Interior Design thesis exhibition at the March 28 – April 9; Reception: April 1 from 5:30 – 7pm. Additionally, a full Interior Design Department exhibition will be held April 5 – 19 at the SVA Gallery, 209 East 23 Street; Reception: April 8, from 5 – 7pm.
