A Part of the Landscape: SVA Mentioned in New Novel

February 21, 2003

Samaritan, the most recent gritty New York novel from big-time author Richard Price, mentions SVA. On pages 175 and 176, as two characters discuss career prospects, one reminisces to himself about his experiences at SVA. It’s definitely worth a look next time you’re browsing in a bookstore. Moreover, the mention of SVA in this seemingly unlikely place illustrates how the College has become part of the New York landscape. Indeed, SVA has earned a place as a landmark institution, if not an icon, that has become a fixture in the minds of New York denizens.
