Freedom Writ Large

January 10, 2003

Bing Lee, director of the International Students Office at SVA and an artist in his own right, is one of 14 artists who was invited to work on a site-specific project at the Queens Museum called 637 Running Feet. The artists were allowed to select the site, theme, and media but could work only in black and white. His piece is a 75′ long mural at the museum that uses more than 600 images to spell out the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights in Morse Code. The opening reception is January 12 from 3 to 6pm at the Queens Museum. Also, Mr. Lee is conducting a workshop on January 26, 12:30 – 4:30pm for the education department of the museum. The Queens Museum is located in Flushing Meadows, Corona Park (Number 7 subway to Shea Stadium station).
