Students Fare Well at Inaugural Internship Fair

November 22, 2002

The College’s first Internship Fair on November 21 was a rousing success. The Visual Arts Museum/SVA Gallery was transformed into a hub of hopefuls and their would-be taskmasters as more than 25 companies set up tables and sought the considerable talents of SVA students. If the economy’s a bust, the boom that resounded throughout the crammed fair gave no such indication. With a backdrop of Paula Scher’s gleaming design pieces, prospective interns worked the room, seeking the grail of marketplace wisdom from such heavyweight players as MTV, Comedy Central, Sony Music, and Time Inc. The Office of Career Development has had a robust internship program for some time, but the fair, in the words of the office’s director Leslie Hammond, “Brings blue chip companies face-to-face with the cream of the crop.”
