In Memoriam: Shang-Yue (Sean) Liu

SVA mourns the passing of BFA Computer Art student Shang-Yue (Sean) Liu. He was the victim of an automobile accident and died on October 15. There will be an exhibition of his work November 21 to December 2 at 209 East 23 Street (ground floor). A reception will be held on November 21 from 6 – 8pm in both the exhibition area and the adjoining Division of Continuing Education Office. Mr. Liu was born in China on December 31, 1977. In 1996 he attended John Bowne High School in Queens. While there, he was named Outstanding Chinese American Student and awarded first prize by the Metropolitan Chinese-American Youth Artist Contest for his painting, Under the Sunlight. In 2001 he transferred from Queens College to the School of Visual Arts where he studied computer animation. “Sean was an enthusiastic and extremely talented young artist,” said John McIntosh, chair of the BFA Computer Art Department. “He was generous, kind, and a good friend. Sean will be missed.”
