November 1, 2002

SVA’s fall 2002 Poetry Slam, sponsored by the Humanities and Sciences Department, is happening November 5. The guest poets are Jesus “Papoleto” Melendez, author of Conciertos on Market Street; and Bob Auletta, SVA staffer and author of The Persians. Joseph Verilla will be the MC. Also, beginning at 6:30 SVA students can sign up for the open mike portion of the event. The whole shebang gets underway at 7pm in the Amphitheater.

On November 12 photographer Eric Kroll brings his tawdry glamour and whimsical fetishism to SVA for a presentation that’s sure to make some squeal and others squirm. Kroll, a former photojournalist for The New York Times, Vogue, and Elle, among others, has two books, Fetish Girls and Beauty Parade. Kroll “defines the erotic art world” according to Eros Guide, the authority on such matters. The lecture, sponsored by The Camera Club of New York and the Photography Department, is at 6:30pm in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23 Street (3rd fl.). Admission is free to Camera Club Members and SVA students, faculty, and staff. Photo ID required for entry.
