Visual AIDS, an organization that strives to increase public awareness of AIDS through the visual arts, will hold its fifth annual Postcards from the Edge benefit on October 28 from 6 – 9pm at Sperone Westwater, 431 West 13 St. The event is Visual AIDS’ annual benefit sale of postcard-sized artwork by established and emerging artists. Over 1,000 original works of art have been submitted this year, the most ever for the benefit. All works are priced at $50 and sold on a first come, first served basis. The work will be exhibited so that the artists’ signatures cannot be seen. Buyers will have a list of participating artists but will not know who created which piece until the time of purchase. Artists from among the SVA community who have submitted postcards include: Polly Apfelbaum, Geoffrey Detrani, John Dugdale, Nicole Eisenman, Milton Glaser, Dan Halm, Alix Pearlstein, Tim Rollins & KOS, and Thomas Woodruff.
