Art Therapy Conference

In conjunction with the Visual Arts Foundation, the Art Therapy Department will hold its 19th annual fall conference: Return to the Studio: Embracing the Process on October 26. The one-day conference will feature workshops such as “The Therapeutic Play Space,” “Ashes and Chalk: Studio Process,” “Engaging with Artwork,” and more. The keynote speaker will be Bruce L. Moon, PhD, ATR-BC, practicing art therapist and the author of several books including Ethical Issues in Art Therapy and Existential Art Therapy: The Canvas Mirror. He is also the Director of the Mount Mary College Graduate Program in Art Therapy. Mr. Moon’s presentation will focus on the integral role that personal art making plays in the professional lives of art therapists. He’ll address current issues in art therapy from the perspective of an artist and existential therapist. The conference will take place from 8:30 – 4:30 pm at the Lighthouse International Conference Center, 111 East 59th Street. Admission is free for SVA students; $50 for non-SVA students, SVA alumni, and SVA art therapy supervisors; $75 for the general public.
