A jury of esteemed art professionals–including Anne Ellegood, Moukhtar Kocache, Duane Michals, George Tscherny and Sara Tucker–has selected the faculty work to be shown at an exhibition of artwork created by School of Visual Arts faculty and students in response to 9/11. The exhibition, School of Visual Arts Commemorates 9/11: Art & Observance, will open September 11, 2002 at the College’s Visual Arts Museum. The opening reception will be September 11, 5 – 8pm.

The show will have several components in multiple venues: artwork created by SVA faculty (Visual Arts Museum, 209 East 23 Street); artwork by students (Westside Gallery, 141 West 21 Street); and faculty writings in the exhibition catalog. The work is quite varied and includes photography, painting, sculpture, video, and mixed media. Some of the faculty who will be exhibiting their work include Stefan Sagmeister, Steven Dana, Richard Falco, Loren Madsen, Steve Ellis, and Vincent LoBrutto.
