Sorrow Fall, Joy Rises

April 12, 2002

On April 17, BFA Fine Arts instructor David Sandlin will unveil the most ambitious painting of his career, Sorrow Falls, Joy Rises. The epic painting has taken nearly four years to complete and confronts many personal life experiences, especially his father’s death and his difficult journey into adulthood. Large in size and ambition, this 7 by 14-foot effort will be at Grace Mansion Gallery, 504 West 22 Street, from April 17 – May 18. A reception for Mr. Sandlin will be held at the gallery on April 17 from 6 to 8pm. For more information, call the gallery at 212.645.7656.
