Rooting for Reut

March 29, 2002

In this month’s Film Comment magazine, Polish filmmaker and SVA alum (Film) Przemyslaw Shemie Reut talks about his most recent film, Paradox Lake, which will be shown at New York’s New Directors/New Films festival on April 5 and April 7. It’s Mr. Reut’s second feature and delves into the nature of autism and the human mind. The film is about a young man who is disenchanted with his life in New York City and, in a radical lifestyle change, decides to do volunteer work helping autistic children. Mr. Reut’s first feature, Close-Up, was made while he was at SVA and premiered at the London Film Festival in 1996.
