BFA Computer Art: A Glittering Jewel

February 15, 2002

The BFA Computer Art Department has had no shortage of achievements to crow about lately. Three 2001 alums have recently made a splash with their Animated films. Alon David won “Best Story with a Message” for his film Ron, at the Festival International de Court-Metrage de Palavas le Flot, in Palavas, France; Chris Hung’s film Extreme Limit was considered last summer’s top pick from iFilm, the premier online library of feature and short films. Michelle McGinnis’s film Shivelry has been seen in over 20 film festivals worldwide and won an award for Best Animation in the Ajijic Festival de Animacion in Mexico (it’s currently among the most watched films on iFilm).

Also, the jury for the 2002 Computer Animation Festival at this summer’s SIGGRAPH conference has been selected. As mentioned previously in VA Briefs (1/28/02), John McIntosh, BFA Computer Art chair, is this year’s Computer Animation Festival chair. Kathy Griswold (Computer Art Faculty) served as a committee member at the jury meeting and Joel Sevilla (alum) will serve as a jury member.
