Star Power

The BFA Film, Video and Animation Department’s annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival and Awards can be counted on to deliver two things year after year: compelling work from the newest talents in film, animation and screenwriting; and some serious star power at the awards ceremony. For the 21st edition of the festival, student winners in 10 categories will be handed their awards by the likes of actress Patricia Clarkson, actor James Gandolfini, TV personality Phil Donahue and more. The awards ceremony and gala takes place Thursday, May 6, 6:30pm, at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street.

The ceremony will top off the week-long Dusty festival, running May 2 – 7, which will include free screenings of short films, videos and animation. In addition, this year’s Screenwriters Night on Monday, May 3, is a collaboration with The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, during which SVA’s graduating thesis screenwriters will have selected scenes performed live by alumni from the Playhouse.
