SVA Wins Sixth Consecutive ADC ‘School of the Year’ Award

Work by SVA students, recent graduates and a faculty member won 10 awards at the 2015 Art Directors Club (ADC) gala, held on April 27 in Miami. This impressive tally once again earned SVA the School of the Year honor, which is given to the institution with the best overall showing in the annual event’s various competitions. The winning campaigns were created in Frank Anselmo’s Unconventional Advertising class.

ADCGoldCube200The Art Directors Club is the premier organization for integrated media worldwide. Each year, an international panel of creative professionals juries the ADC Awards competition, to recognize the best work from around the world in interactive media, broadcast and print advertising, graphic design, publication design, packaging, photography and illustration. This year’s winners from SVA are:

BFA Advertising students Nyong Ha Cheng, Hwa Young Jung, Ho Yun Sun and Daniel Young, who brought home a gold cube in the “Advertising, Digital, and Motion” category for their digital project “Athlete Avatar.”

golds425In the same category, BFA Advertising students Eunhye Kim, Nobuaki Nogamoto and Taejun Park all won silver. Nogamoto and Park for their Gold’s Gym advertisement “A Stronger You.”

truck425And Kim for the safe driving PSA, “VERIZON Truck Back.”

Also in the “Advertising, Digital, and Motion” category, Briana Franceschini (BFA 2014 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects) and Ho Kwan Au (BFA 2014 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects) won bronze for “Nexus.”

books425Hyun Jin Kim (BFA 2014 Design) received a merit award in the “Design, Photography, and Illustration” category for the project “A Cultural History Book Series.”

sol425And Rachel Ake (BFA 2014 Design) and BFA Design faculty member John Gall won a bronze cube in the same category for their entry “Sol LeWitt Monograph Book Jacket.”

bw425Also in the design category was Rebecca Lim (BFA 2014 Design), who received a bronze award for her project “Black + White Magazine.”

uncommon425Lauren Chepiga (BFA 2014 Design) received a merit award for her “Uncommon Objects (Logo).”

nike425Gary Lee (BFA 2014 Advertising) and Jilly Ko (BFA 2014 Advertising) also earned merit awards for their “NIKE Elevator Stairs” advertisement.

FIFA425And BFA Advertising students Man Ki Kim and Yung Hyuk Lee’s “FIFA WORLD CUP Who Will Win?” won a bronze in the advertising category.
