SVA Students and Moleskine Raise AIDS Awareness for (RED) Charity

November 12, 2014

This year, Moleskine—maker of the elastic-bound notebooks familiar to creative and design-conscious types the world over—joined the (RED) project, an AIDS charity that raises funds through the sale of specially branded products offered by companies ranging from Apple to Starbucks. red200To help promote its participation, Moleskine donated several of its (RED) books to MFA Illustration as Visual Essay, and invited the department’s students to create drawings on the theme of raising HIV/AIDS awareness.

Select pieces by students Chioma Ebinama and Jon Guinn, alongside drawings solicited from such notables as Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and artist Edward Mapplethorpe, are now on view at the Park Hyatt hotel on West 57th Street, where they will be shown through World AIDS Day, on December 1.

laundry425Moleskine has also set up a website, One (RED) Day, where it will feature the students’ work, as well as any eye-catching work posted on social media with the hashtag #oneredday, throughout November.
