SVA Student Angel Cardenas a Finalist in 2014 Sprite Films Contest

Current BFA Film and Video student Angel Cardenas has been chosen as one of just six finalists in the 2014 Sprite Films contest. The competition provides aspiring filmmakers with the opportunity to produce a short film for an international online audience, and the winning film will be screened in theaters nationwide. sprite200Selected from a pool of applicants across 23 colleges and universities, Cardenas and the other finalists were picked because they “demonstrated bold imagination and a relentless pursuit of self-expression in filmmaking,” according to Sprite Films. Working with Cardenas as the film’s producer is BFA Film and Video student Henrik Hanson.

henrikcrop200The six winning scripts are currently in production by the finalists and will debut at CinemaCon the week of March 24th. Public online viewing and voting of the short films will be live on March 24 through May 15 at Sprite.com/films, where the public will select the student winner of the Fan Favorite Award. A group of film industry experts will crown the Green Ribbon Panel winner with the opportunity to work on a Sprite brand project with an agency that does business with The Coca-Cola Company. In addition, the Green Ribbon Panel winner will see their winning short film debut in select theaters across the country in August 2014.

The other schools represented are the Art Institute of Charlotte; Columbia College, Chicago; Savannah College of Art and Design;  University of California, Los Angeles;  and the University of North Carolina, School of the Arts.
