Angie Wojak, director of career development, shares this recap of Pixar’s recent visit to SVA.
On February 11, Pixar representatives visited SVA to discuss their summer internship program and meet with students, faculty and staff. Pixar’s Ryan Howe (University Relations Speciliast), Kim Diaz (Senior Creative Recruiter) and Andy Beall (Senior Manager for Animation) joined BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects students for an afternoon pizza party and talked about their careers at Pixar. They also discussed the types of opportunities Pixar offers, including animation and story internships and PUP (Pixar Undergraduate Program). Andy Beall has worked on 13 feature films, including The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Up, to name a few.
Pixar representatives met with faculty and staff throughout the day and MFA Computer Art hosted an information session for all students. Pixar also interviewed SVA students whose work had been preselected for internship program consideration.
In the evening, students attended a Pixar presentation at the SVA Theatre. Beall, Diaz, and Howe discussed Pixar’s internship program and described what they look for when selecting interns and staff. The event was hosted by the Office of Career Development; BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation, and Visual Effects; BFA Film and Video; BFA Animation; and MFA Computer Art.
