If you’re looking for unique gift ideas this holiday season, the 2013 Degenerate
Craft Fair (DCF) is your one-stop-shop. Taking place on Saturday, December 14 from noon to 9:00pm and Sunday, December 15 from 11:00am to 6:00pm at the DCTV Firehouse, 87 Lafayette Street, the fifth annual edition of the fair features local handmade wares by over 40 vendors, including works by DCF founders Amy Wilson (faculty member, BFA Visual and Critical Studies Department) and Shannon Broder (BFA 2011 Visual and Critical Studies).
Several other members of the SVA community will have booths at the fair as well: Alexander Perrelli (BFA 2007 Photography) for Dinosaurus, Jacqueline Sendgikoski (BFA 2010 Advertising) for Burn this Art, Steve Ciancanelli (BFA 1997 Illustration) for Grim Dandy Cigar Box Guitar Company, and the creative minds behind Carrier Pigeon, to name just a few.
Most of the wares at the Degenerate Craft Fair are priced under $50, and run the gamut from knitwear, handmade jewelry and ornaments to original paintings, sculptures, and artist books. The fair’s opening night reception from 6 – 9pm on Saturday features live music and free Brooklyn Brewery beer for those of age, and on Sunday, the first 50 visitors receive a tote bag full of goodies.
