Steve Brodner, a faculty member in the BFA Cartooning and BFA Illustration departments at SVA, moderates “Illustration Next,” a discussion of projects by artists working outside the traditional editorial framework—from video games and graphic novels to film, web comics, and more.
Part of Illustration Week, the lecture looks at new directions by more than 30 trailblazing artists including Fernanda Cohen, Christoph Niemann, BFA Cartooning Department faculty member Peter Kuper, BFA Illustration Department faculty member Yuko Shimizu and Michael Sloan. Many of the artists will be in the audience and available for comment.
ability, the world of illustration as it is and as it is becoming,” says Brodner, who teaches several portfolio classes. “Artists are increasingly becoming content providers and producers. Free and open to the public, “Illustration Next” takes place on November 5 at 7:00pm in the Amphitheater, 209 East 23rd Street, 3rd floor.
