March 22, 2013

Alumnus Nirit Zer (BFA 2000 Advertising) was recently awarded a prestigious 2013 Arte Laguna Prize in virtual art. The Italian Cultural Association MoCA (Modern Contemporary Art), in collaboration with Arte Laguna, organized the seventh edition of the international art prize, which aims to promote and encourage contemporary art and artists. Cash prizes totaling 170,000 Euros are awarded in the categories of painting, sculpture, video art, animation and performance, and special prizes awarded to artists who propose to develop an artistic business project. Two artists-in-residence are awarded as well.

Zer’s winning entry I here project is based on her ongoing explorations of the concept of identity. I here project is an endless self-portrait comprised of photographs, videos, paintings, text, illustrations, 3-D works, and other digital art that provides snapshots of the artist’s evolving identity through time.
