NYC: Solo Exhibitions by SVA Alumni Todd Kelly and Nicolas Touron

February 18, 2013

Todd Kelly (MFA 2000 Fine Arts) presents “My Own Personal Rebus,” an exhibition of paintings that experiment with line and form. Kelly’s works are bright and colorful and range from purely geometric to abstractedly naturalistic. He describes this exhibition as a puzzle with no definitive solution. On view at Asya Geisberg Gallery, 537B West 23 Street, through March 9.

Nicolas Touron’s (MFA 2003 Fine Arts) exhibition “Play Ground” consists of paintings and sculptures that toy with the dimension of time and examine the instant visual accessibility of paintings. Touron creates expansive, detailed, and spontaneous canvases that zoom into familiar yet alien worlds, and his work tells stories that contain flashes of political themes, historical references and fairytale motifs. On view at Stux Gallery, 530 West 25 Street, through February 23.
