“The Broadway Project,” an exhibition of Broadway-inspired posters by first- and second-year students in the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay Department, is currently on view at the SVA Gallery, 209 East 23rd Street, 1st Floor, through March 2. In the fall of 2012, AKA, a full-service advertising and marketing agency in New York, asked the students to create original works that incorporated a Broadway theme and awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarship money to one grand-prize winner and four runners-up.
Curated by Department Chair Marshall Arisman and faculty member Carl Titolo, “The Broadway Project” includes works by Te Chao, Hye Jin Chung, Maëlle Doliveux, Claudia Griesbach-Martucci, Katie Hwang, Federico Infante, Jai Kamat, James P. Kerigan, Aram L. Kim, Jordan Lysenko, Harshad Marathe, Luisa Possas, Ada Price, Douglas Salati, Jade Schulz, Cun Shi, Moonsub Shin, Ashley Seil Smith, Laura Tibaquirá, Andrea Tsurumi, Benjamin Wheatley, Kevin Whipple, Annie Won and Daniel Zender.
