BFA Film, Video and Animation Department faculty member Chris Newman will be presented with the prestigious Cinema Audio Society’s Career Achievement Award at the 49th Annual CAS Awards for
Outstanding Sound Mixing. As CAS’s highest accolade, this award is given to a sound mixer who has displayed mastery of their craft with noteworthy credits in film and television. Newman is a three-time Oscars winner (for The English Patient, Amadeus and The Exorcist) and has been the Production Sound Mixer on more than 85 feature films, including The French Connection, Silence of the Lambs, The
Godfather and Philadelphia.
CAS is the largest organization of Sound Mixers in the film and television industry. The awards ceremony will be held on February 16th at the Millennium-Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles, California. For more info, click here.
