Eight SVA alumni have work featured in The Original Art: Celebrating the Fine Art of Children’s Book Illustration, currently at the Society of Illustrators, 128 East 63 Street, New York City. MFA Illustration as Visual Essay Department alumni Lauren Castillo (2005), Brian Floca (2001), Tao Nyeu (2007), Edward Hemingway (2002), John Hendrix (2003) and Yumi Heo (1992), as well as  Peter McCarty (BFA 1992 Illustration and Cartooning) and Douglas Florian (1972) all have their books included in the exhibition, which runs through December 22.

In addition to the printed books, original paintings, drawings, prints and collages by the artists are also on display. Entries were submitted nationwide and the books chosen for the exhibition were selected by a jury of illustrators, art directors, editors and experts in the field.
