Paola Antonelli, a faculty member in both the MFA Design Criticism and MFA Products of Design departments at SVA, has been picked as the Museum of Modern Art’s first Director of Research and Development.
In this brand new position, Antonelli “will provide the museum with information and critical tools to evaluate new initiatives and identify new directions and unexplored opportunities, particularly in the digital realm,” according to a press release from MoMA.
Antonelli has been with MoMA for nearly two decades, and most recently curated the 2011 exhibition “Talk to Me: Design and the Communication between People and Objects.” She will continue to serve as a senior curator for the museum, dividing her time between the architecture and design department and research and development.
