At this year’s YoungCuts Film Festival–the three-day showcase for independent films by up-and-coming animation artists from around the world–six of the selections were created by 2011 alumni of the BFA Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects Department. Several of these films were named in Top 100 International Short Films of 2012, including Bounty + Hunter by Eugene Chu; King Killian by James McKenzie; Package Frank by David Chen and Carl Fong; and Rabbitkadabra by Michelle Czajkowski, David Chen, Krzysztof Fus and Naomi Chen. They were shown along with fellow alumnus Seungmi Nam’s film Hz during the 2012 Animation & Music Screening on October 12 at Concordia University in Montreal.
In addition, Toast by Henry Jean was been selected as one of the festival’s Top 10 of 2012 films, one of five nominees for Best Short Short Film, and shown during their final Grand Prix Screening on October 13 at Concordia University. The final results were announced on October 14.
The 2012 YoungCuts Film Festival had more than 1000 submissions from over 30 different countries. All selected films are available for viewing on the YoungCuts website.
