September 7, 2012

MA Critical Theory and the Arts faculty member Jay Sanders has made the shortlist of nominees for this year’s Independent Vision Curatorial Award. According to Artinfo, the nominees have “been vetted by some of the biggest names in contemporary art, including Performa founder RoseLee Goldberg, White Columns director Matthew Higgs, Documenta’s Chus Martinez, MIT List Visual Arts Center curator João Ribas, LACMA’s chief curator of contemporary art Franklin Sirmans, and Guggenheim chief curator Nancy Spector.”

Artinfo also went on to say, “The most established of the nominees may be Whitney Museum curator and 2012 Biennial co-curator Jay Sanders.” The winner will be announced by Serpentine Gallery’s Hans Ulrich Obrist at Independent Curators International’s fall benefit auction and gala on November 19.
