The 2012 Adobe Design Achievement Awards (ADAA) finalists have been announced. Out of nearly 5,000 submissions fewer than 100 people were chosen, six of them being SVA students and alumni.
Boyeon Choi (current student, MFA Illustration as Visual Essay) was selected in the Browser-Based Design category for his team’s project “RENT,” a visual archive of rent houses in five international cities that have the highest rent ratio in the world. Christopher DeVito and Danica Parry (both BFA 2012 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects) were picked for the Animation category for their computer-animated short entitled Ramus (watch below). Nada Seet (current student, MFA Design) was selected in the Print Communications category for Oh, This may sound pathetic to you, an intricate handmade book about a girl that is fighting for love. Elizabeth Showman (current student, MFA Design) received Honorable Mention in the Motion Graphics category for her project The Crazy Night of Crazy Eights, which follows a well known gambler called Crazy Eights in the 1920s.
The ADAA showcase individual and group projects created with Adobe software and aim to honor talented students that combine technology with the creative arts. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced in November. For more information, check out the ADAA website.
