What’s In Store: Elegantissima, Digital Imaging Masters, and Dancing Bears

August 17, 2012

Elegantissima: The Design and Typography of Louise Fili (Princeton Architectural Press): This latest book by BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department faculty member Louise Fili is the first one to showcase the range and scope of her extensive career so far. From her nearly 2,000 book jacket designs, to her concepts for packaging, logos, and brand identities, this book covers it all. With a foreword by MFA Design Department Co-chair Steven Heller.

Power, Speed and Automation with Adobe Photoshop (Focal Press):  SVA’s MPS Digital Photography Department releases the first book in its Digital Imaging Masters Series. Authored by faculty member Jeff Tranberry and alumnus Geoff Scott (2010), edited by department Chair Katrin Eismann, and based on the cutting-edge curriculum of the MPS Digital Photography Department, the book addresses advanced technical and conceptual issues that photographers need to master to be successful in the 21st century.

Must I Weep for the Dancing Bear and Other Stories  (Pleasure Boat Studio) by Louis Phillips: Poet, playwright, short story author, and SVA Humanities and Sciences Department faculty member Louis Phillips offers his latest collection. Each story in this book examines the coming-of-age experiences of males in their teens or early twenties, innocent characters that look at the world with a naïveté and “exude great humor, great pathos, and great curiosity.”
