Recent SVA graduates Danica Parry and Jonathan Lin (both BFA 2012 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects) were named finalists in the 2012 CG Student Awards (formerly known as the Computer Graphics Student Awards). The CG Student Awards is an annual, international event which showcases and rewards excellence in computer graphics from students and recent graduates worldwide.
Over 360 students submitted demo reels to a judging panel of industry professionals to compete in the Student of the Year category. Winners received prizes including software, tutorials, and workshops along with internship opportunities at many of the world’s leading production studios, including Framestore, Blue Bolt, and The Mill. The grand prize winner and finalists were determined based on an evaluation of skills such as Modeling, Texturing, Rigging, Architectural Visualization, Animation, Live Action, Editing, and Character Animation. Judges also assessed the entries for raw talent and the student’s future potential in the industry. Danica Parry earned a top 10 placement for her demo reel and Jonathan Lin earned a placement in the top 20.
