Is Brooklyn’s once-remote Bushwick neighborhood the new Chelsea? Judging from a spate of recent gallery openings reported in The New York Times, it’s on its way. One pioneering young artist behind the trend is alumnus Tom Weinrich (MFA 2008 Fine Arts). Shortly after graduating from SVA, he opened his own woodworking and framing workshop in a raw warehouse at 56 Bogart. Now Weinrich operates Interstate Projects, just one of nine galleries that has made the building a hub for Bushwick’s bustling art scene.
