SVA officially kicked off graduation season this week with the announcement of thesis exhibitions, conferences, screenings and other year-end events. The latest work to take shape in the College’s 30 degree programs is on display to the public in two on-campus galleries, two off-campus galleries, and various screening rooms on campus through the month of June. The lineup includes more than 30 public programs, from the MFA Fine Arts Department Open Studios from April 26 – 28 at 133/141 West 21st Street to the MFA Design Criticism Department Conference Eventually Everything, held on Wednesday, May 2, at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street.
First up: BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department students take over the Art Directors Club Gallery (106 West 29 Street) in the annual portfolio exhibition. There’s a public reception on Tuesday, March 20, 5 – 8:30pm that’s been known to attract a crowd of recruiters and supporters that overflows the gallery and snakes down the sidewalk outside.
For movie lovers, the 23rd Annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival screens nearly 100 original works from May 6 – 9 at the SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street. Admission is free and no tickets are required for screenings.
