In The Press: Ron Barbagallo Interviewed in Animation World Network

February 10, 2011

Alumnus and art conservator Ron Barbagallo (BFA 1981 Media Arts) was recently interviewed for Animation World Network, discussing his Animation Art Conservation practice of the past 25 years.

Explaining how he came to be one of the conservators at Ground Zero, Barbagallo talks about his initial interest in preservation and the challenges of working with this material. He says, “In 1987, my twin sister Lori and I purchased a White Rabbit cel painting from Disney’s 1951 animated film Alice in Wonderland… Someone [had] put Wite-Out on in his hind paw. I tried to find someone to remove the Wite-Out and do a reversible fill and learned that there were only ‘restorers’ who would remove the original paint and replace it with new paint.”
