Tweeting Dash Shaw

November 5, 2010

Graphic novelist Dash Shaw (BFA 2005 Illustration) delivered a Distinguished Alumnus Lecture to an enthusiastic crowd at the SVA Theatre on November 4.  The enthusiasm reached beyond the walls of the theater and out into the world of social media—especially on Twitter, where mentions of and responses to Shaw’s talk were in abundance. Here is a collection of some of the many tweets that came out of the lecture:

@colonsuzan: Thank you, Dash Shaw, for reminding me to do what I need to do so I can do what I WANT to do. #HenryMancini

@artboycat: It was great to hear Dash Shaw explain that he always found a way to rework his life so he could focus on making comics.

@Amyslysly: I liked Dash Shaw’s advice to create a life around doing what you love, not fit in what you love around a life. http://twitpic.com/33yq0o

@LindaMags: Crazy inspired by dash shaw lecture @ SVA ink plots! Must finish my graphic novel! #HenryMancini

@inkstuds: @disquietville I have done panels in the past. the Dash Shaw/Paul Pope interview is a good example of that.

@mmaddencomics: RT @SVA_News: Dash Shaw talking at SVA tonight!! http://bit.ly/8Y2Du6 <-I hope someone’s planning to take notes and write this up.
