In The Press: Jacqueline Bates in Loupe

November 29, 2010

One of the features in the first issue of Loupe magazine—published by the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University— is a piece about alumnus Jacqueline Bates (BFA 2004 Photography; MFA 2009 Photography, Video and Related Media), who calls on viewers to question cultural authenticity in her ambiguous photographs. Writer George Slade notes that, “tensions arise in the distinctions between real and ideal, imagined and found, observed and experienced” throughout Bates’ body of work.
