Intern-alized

August 11, 2010

Students participating in the Office of Career Development’s Internship for Credit program are required to complete weekly assignments that are discussed online through the Blackboard distance-learning system. A recent assignment had each intern interview a mentor in the organization at which the internship took place, and BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department student and MoMA intern Amrita Marino not only completed the task as required—interviewing August Heffner, design manager and senior art director in MoMA’s graphic design department—but took the extra steps of gathering visuals and presenting the interview on her blog, 5260hz.

“I’d asked the students to talk to someone at the workplace whom they admire, and to find out how they got started in their field,” says Doree Albritton, the internship manager at SVA. “This contribution from Amrita really stood out, especially the way she presented it as a graphic narrative.” Read Marino’s blog post here.
