Each summer, the Division of Continuing Education’s Summer Residency Program makes the College’s faculty and facilities available to emerging and established artists who want an opportunity to develop their artistic voices in an intensive, focused environment. Artists are invited to apply for residencies in Illustration and Visual Storytelling; Impact: Design for Social Change; Painting and Mixed Media; Photography; Printmaking and Book Arts; Public Art; and Sculpture, Installation and New Media Art; and then spend between four and eight weeks in SVA studios creating new work.
As the program’s first month-long session draws to a close, the artists have invited the public to an Open Studios event on Thursday, July 1, 6 – 9pm. The studios for Painting and Mixed Media, Illustration and Visual Storytelling, and Printmaking and Books Arts are located at 133/141 West 21st Street, 4th floor; the studios for Sculpture, Installation and New Media Art are at 335 West 16th Street, 1st floor. Admission to all of the Summer Residency Program Open Studios is free and open to the public.
