Recent graduate Natalia Yovane (MFA 2010 Fine Arts) was selected as one of three artists to participate in “KedsWhitney Works on Canvas”, a live-action exhibition in which artists collaborate on paintings in the windows of the flagship Bloomingdale’s store at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue. Through Wednesday, July 21, passersby will be able to view the artists working through the windows from 10:30am – 2pm and 4:30 – 8pm. The exhibition was conceived in conjunction with a series of new launches from the Keds shoe brand and their partnership with the Whitney Museum of American Art, providing pay-what-you-wish admission to the museum on Friday evenings.
Yovane shared her thoughts on painting in the windows with the Briefs: “My favorite part is seeing the kids come up to the window to take a peek,” she said. “People are really curious about the artist studio and process, and I am more than happy to share the experience.”
After the two-week installation, the completed works will be on view at the Whitney, 945 Madison Avenue, on Friday evenings.
