Samuael Topiary, a faculty member in the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department, is presenting a one-night-only premiere of her latest performance work, Landscape with The Fall of Icarus. Inspired by Pieter Brueghel’s painting of the same name, Topiary will embody six characters, ranging from the historical to the mythical—Brueghel, Henry Hudson, The Wall Street Minotaur, Amelia Earhart, David Rockefeller and Icarus—in a long-form performance directed by choreographer Miguel Gutierrez.
This special work-in-progress debut takes place Tuesday, May 18, 8pm, at Dixon Place, 161 Chrystie Street, in preparation for her two-week run at the experimental theater at Abrons Arts Center in November, 2010. Tickets are $15 and are available through ovationtix.com.
