The New York City Opera (NYCO) is best known, of course, for its operatic productions. For its current season, however, NYCO is reaching out to artists in other media to help celebrate the upcoming slate of operas. “Parallel Perceptions: Emerging Artists Illustrate the 2009–2010 New York City Opera Season” is an exhibition featuring works by several photographers that help amplify themes and images from the company’s stage. Among the five artists invited to participate in the project are BFA Photography Department faculty member Elinor Carucci and alumnus Rachel Papo (MFA 2006 Photography, Video and Related Media).
Many of the exhibition’s artists will be on hand for a special opening event on Friday, November 6, 5 – 8pm, at NYCO’s David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Admission to the event is free, and the works will remain on display at the theater through Sunday, November 22. For more information, visit nycopera.com.
