  • Satchmo: The Wonderful World and Art of Louis Armstrong, by Steven Brower (faculty, BFA Advertising and Graphic Design Department): This biography of jazz great Louis Armstrong tells his story through images from his scrapbooks, selections from his notebooks and photographs from “Satchmo’s” personal collection (Abrams Books, 2009)
  • The Hookah Girl and Other True Stories, Volume 2 by Marguerite Dabaie (BFA 2007 Cartooning): The second installment of Dabaie’s self-published comic series continues her autobiographical look at Palestinian families, food, politics and art. Hookah Girl is available from her Web site.
  • The Last Olympian: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 5, cover art by John Rocco (BFA 1991 Illustration): Rocco provides the cover illustration for the final installment of the popular children’s series Percy Jackson and the Olympians (Disney Hyperion Books for Children, 2009). Recently, Imagekind has begun offering prints of Rocco’s cover art (click here).
