Journal-ism

May 11, 2009

The Visual Arts Journal is SVA’s twice-yearly magazine, collecting features about the work of students, faculty and graduates; stories that look at art-world trends and emerging voices in the arts; short takes on books, DVDs and other products by members of the SVA community; and updates on the achievements of the College’s alumni. After a front-to-back redesign last semester courtesy of the Visual Arts Press, the new issue of the Journal is making its debut in an online version that extends the reach of the concurrent print edition.

Visitors to sva.edu/journal will find all of the spring 2009 issue’s contents, along with additional artwork and links to resources that further contextualize and expand on the stories. From a Q+A with alumnus Brett Wingate (BFA 1986 Media Arts) about his work in the world of professional wrestling and a look at how the economic downturn is affecting artists, to a series of profiles of documentary photographers and advice from the Office of Career Development on how to use social-networking sites to help your career, the Journal now delivers its distinctive content in a choice of formats.
