The BFA Photography Department and Dear Dave, magazine are set to welcome photographers Oliver Chanarin and Adam Broomberg in a public conversation with curator and SVA faculty member Susan Bright on Monday, April 13. Based in London, Chanarin and Broomberg have worked as a collaborative team, fusing conceptual practice with social activism. Their acclaimed series The Red House, currently on view at Brancolini Grimaldi Arte Contemporanea in Rome, documents the wall drawings made by Kurdish prisoners held in solitary confinement in cells hidden beneath Saddam Hussein’s Baath Party headquarters.
The conversation begins at 7pm and will take place at the SVA Theater, 333 West 23rd Street. This is the second in a new series of monthly conversations exploring contemporary photography among noted artists, critics, curators and editors. Last month’s conversation with photographer Paul Graham is now available for free download on iTunes U.
