CD Eyes

February 3, 2009

Designer and alumnus Peter Buchanan-Smith (MFA 2000 Design) has a 2005 Best Recording Package Emmy Award on his mantel for Wilco’s A Ghost is Born album, and he continues to be an in-demand talent in the music business. Recently, Buchanan-Smith and fellow alumnus Josef Reyes (BFA 2005 Graphic Design) designed the packaging for three CD releases: Stones World by jazz saxophonist and Rolling Stones sideman Tim Reis; The Glass Box, a 10-disc collection of work by minimalist composer Philip Glass; and Mothertongue, the crossover recording by contemporary classical artist Nico Muhly.

In addition to their album designs, Buchanan-Smith and Reyes also created the cover for How To Have Style (Gotham, 2008), the latest book by style maven Isaac Mizrahi.
